James D. Doyle

James Doyle is an attorney at Landis & Setzler, where he focuses his practice in the area of real estate, including homeowners and condominium association law, real estate transactions, zoning and land use, construction defect litigation, buyer/seller disputes and title matters generally.

James is a lifelong resident of the Greater Philadelphia area.  He graduated from B. Reed Henderson High School in West Chester, Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Villanova University.  While attending Villanova, James studied international relations in Beijing, China.

James received his Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law, during which time he served as a senior editor of the Widener Journal of Law, Economics & Race and received multiple trial advocacy awards from the American Association of Justice.  James also attended the Southwest University of Political Science and Law in Chongqing, China, where he studied international law.

Prior to joining Landis & Setzler, P.C., James worked at a regional law firm in Paoli, Pennsylvania, where he focused his practice primarily in the areas of residential and commercial real estate litigation.

James currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Chester County Bar Association where he has been an active member since 2013.  He is the current Chair of the Golf League and a former Chair of the Real Estate Section, Judicial Evaluation Committee and Young Lawyers Division.  He also serves on the Charles E. Swope Scholarship Committee.  

From 2015 to 2020, James served as a member of the West Chester Borough Zoning Hearing Board, including as Vice Chair beginning in 2017.  In 2021, James was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. In 2022, James was appointed to the Community Associations Institute’s Legislative Action Committee for Pennsylvania.

James was recognized as a Top Lawyer by Main Line Today Magazine in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, and was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2021 and 2022, a distinction which only 2.5% of attorneys in Pennsylvania receive.

James resides in West Chester with his wife and children.  In his free time, he enjoys golf, hiking, wine and traveling with his family.
